A Scout is Always a Scout
Through these challenging times, it is good to know that a Scout is always a Scout and they will always be doing what is expected of them because that is what a Scout does. Crater Lake Council Scouts have helped with food drives, loading food into vehicles at food pantries, picked up trash in their neighborhoods, done odd job work for their neighbors and senior friends, written thank you cards to healthcare and frontline workers, written notes to those in nursing homes who could not visit with their families, and otherwise stayed true to the Scout Law, Scout Oath and Scout Slogan “Do A Good Turn Daily”.
The Scout Motto, as related by Lt. Gen, Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the Boy Scouts of America: “The scouts’ motto is founded on my initials, it is: BE PREPARED, which means, you are always in a state of readiness in mind and body to do your DUTY;
Be Prepared in Mind by having disciplined yourself to be obedient to every order, and also by having thought out beforehand any accident or situation that might occur, so that you know the right thing to do at the right moment, and are willing to do it.
Be Prepared in Body by making yourself strong and active and able to do the right thing at the right moment, and do it.”
Now, we need YOUR help
We are proud of the Scouts in Central and Southern Oregon and Northern California, and the outstanding service they have provided while maintaining social distancing orders.
However, due to things out of our control, our operating budget is in trouble. Immediately after the news of the National Bankruptcy, we had to cancel our major fundraisers due to the meeting restrictions in place in Oregon and California. This included our annual ask from our families and the community, known as Friends of Scouting and our Community Luncheons, leaving our operating budget in dire straits. Any donation you can provide at this time will help keep our programs running through 2020.
Our Summer Camps have been cancelled, which is also one of our revenue streams. The bottom line is, we need your help to stay solvent during these difficult times. Our operations costs equate to $300 per Scout.
Please give what you can today to ensure each Scout is able to continue in Scouting through 2020.
You can also donate by texting FOS20 to (844) 615 – 4269.
