Sharing the Story of Scouting

All Council Roundtable on Sharing the Positive Story of Scouting

Scouting has so many positive stories. In the past year, we have had Scouts earning the rank of Eagle, collecting food for local food banks, getting away from the screen and getting outdoors, collecting school supplies, and helping after the fires. Often these positive stories never get recognized in our communities or within the Scouting community. When we share these stories, we see more families wanting to join Scouting.

While 2020 has been a challenging year, we have seen some units successfully recruit over ten new Scouts into their program. They did this by using social media, traditional media, and peer to peer recruitment. To make those efforts successful, they also took full advantage of the online marketing and application system located at www.beascout.org

The Crater Lake Council has also been working on an updated marketing plan and tool kit under our new Marketing Chair, Jennifer Stephens. We are making plans for more social media buys, more use of print media to tell the story of Scouting, and the purchasing of more materials to be used in our communities to promote scouting in 2021.

These plans and materials will be most successful if we can get every unit in the council to understand and utilize them fully. For that reason, the January 21st Roundtable will be a council-wide zoom meeting where we will present and train you on these tools. We need every unit to have at least one volunteer at this meeting. This training will run from 6:30 pm to 8 pm.   Please RSVP your attendance here.
